How Early Intervention Helps Children With Developmental Delays

Early Intervention helps children 0-3 with developmental delays or disabilities.

Welcome to our new blog, where we’ll share information about Early Intervention and how it benefits babies and toddlers in the crucial years of birth to three. We hope to reach parents and caregivers of young children who may be experiencing any sort of developmental delay to let them know that help is available.

What is Early Intervention?

Early Intervention is a system of services that helps babies and toddlers with a wide range of developmental delays or disabilities, such as speech difficulties, hearing loss, cognitive delays, disruptive behavior, and so much more. Early Intervention focuses on helping parents understand their child’s needs, while providing therapy and resources that help babies and toddlers learn the skills that typically develop during the first three years of life.

Best of all, in Pennsylvania these services are provided at NO COST to families of children from birth to three years old. All it takes is a free evaluation to determine whether your child is in need of these services. You don’t even need a doctor’s referral!

Who is Happy Hearts?

Happy Hearts is an Early Intervention agency that has been making a positive difference in the lives of young children and their families in Berks and Schuylkill counties since 2010. We’ve since expanded into Lebanon, Tioga, and Wayne counties as well. Our team of more than twenty caring and experienced therapists offer a range of in-home and community services and are skilled at teaching parents and caregivers how they can help their children learn and grow during their daily activities.

What Services Does Happy Hearts Offer?

Happy Hearts currently offers the following services to children and families in Berks, Schuylkill, Lebanon, Tioga, and Wayne counties:

  • Speech and Language Therapy - We help children communicate to the best of their ability while addressing speech, language, social communication, and feeding issues.

  • Occupational Therapy - We help children achieve independence in their everyday routines and activities such as feeding, self-care, playing, engaging with others, and participating in their environment.

  • Special Instruction - We work with families to improve their child’s overall growth and development in areas such as play skills, behavior management, cognitive development, social interactions, and motor and language development.

  • Hearing Therapy - With years of working specifically with young children who are deaf or hard of hearing, our special instructors/speech therapists provide parents with the necessary information and support to make decisions about their child’s amplification needs (such as cochlear implants or hearing aids) and help their child achieve speech and language goals.

  • Behavior Therapy - We help children eliminate disruptive, harmful, or negative behaviors and replace them with positive actions.

We Need Your Help To Spread the Word About Early Intervention!

Over the next few months we’ll dive into each of the services we offer and the warning signs that a child might have a developmental delay. We hope you’ll help us spread the word to parents throughout Berks, Schuylkill, Lebanon, Tioga, and Wayne counties that help is available by sharing this post.

Not only is there NO COST to parents in Pennsylvania for Early Intervention, but we work to integrate these services into existing routines so they don’t add more to your already full plate. We can provide services in your home, daycare, community, or even via teletherapy. Our goal is to make a positive difference in children’s lives by maximizing their learning potential at the critical age of birth to three years old.
